On Wednesday, Google announced that it would update the “discovery” page of its search references to allow users to focus on specific publishers and creators, thereby presenting more content of interest to them. This update follows a feature launched last month in Google that allows users to select news sites and blogs for the “hot news” section of the search results.

Google indicated that, in the coming weeks, users would also be able to see more types of content on the Discovery page, including articles, YouTube Shorts short videos and posts on X and INS from creators and publishers across the Internet. In the future, Google will include more types of sources. Google says: “Our research shows that users are happy to see in `discovery’ mixed content forms, including videos, social and articles.”
According to the Google official network, users can focus directly on publishers and creators in “discovery” to see more of their content. A preview of the publisher’s or creator’s content — including articles, YouTube videos and posts from social channels — was given before the attention. Just click on their names and find a new space to display their content.

“We focus on helping publishers and creators to reach their audiences in the search. We have recently added the function of choosing a preferred source of news in the headlines. And we will continue to add more ways in which users can directly connect with their favorite publishers and creators in `discovery’.”
Through these initiatives, Google seeks to give users more control over content, while also expanding its Discovery page to include more diverse sources of information. However, it is not clear what the specific criteria for Google ‘s content on the Discovery page are.
These announcements are being issued at a time when the publisher has caused a significant drop in traffic as a result of his AI search. Google even launched a product called “Offerwall” to enable publishers to earn income from sources other than advertising.
