App Store Developer Bills and Sales in 2025 over $1.4 trillion

Apple released its annual App Store Ecosystem Update last week, and App Store facilitated more than $1.4 trillion in developer settlements and sales in 2025, up from $1.3 trillion in the same period last year.

This data covers the transaction amounts of all applications on the App Store platform and is intended to show how App Store creates more profit opportunities for mobile developers beyond application purchases. Apple noted that 90 per cent of the $1.4 trillion in transactions involved transactions in which developers were not required to pay any commission, highlighting the fact that apples constituted a much smaller share of the total revenue cake from the application.

By further breakdown, App Store ‘ s total sales in 2025 included $1.1 trillion in sales of physical goods and services and $14.9 billion in digital commodity revenues and sales. The latter are mainly collected in the form of commissions between 15 and 30 per cent, depending on the type of transaction and the size of the enterprise, which is higher than the $131 billion released last year by Apple.

In addition, apples indicate that the use of advertising revenues will reach $151 billion in 2025, up from $150 billion the previous year. Apple also stresses that by 2025, the average weekly user of App Store will exceed 850 million, covering 175 countries and territories.

It is worth mentioning that Apple also referred specifically to AI applications, noting that 40 of the top 100 applications in 2025 had a consumer-oriented AI function and that such applications were growing faster than other applications.

The Apple Report also noted that App Store had also registered significant growth in China. Over the past six years, App Store ‘ s settlement and sales in China have more than doubled. At the same time, App Store ‘ s settlement and sales in China have more than tripled, owing mainly to real goods and services, such as retail, fresh distribution, Internet-based vehicles and tourism.
